I began this painting as a response to our government’s withdrawal from the Paris Climate Accord with the President’s declaring that he was the president of Pittsburgh not Paris.
As paintings often evolve into larger themes and images, I became interested with how ancient sailors used the starry sky as a navigation tool. The smaller separate painting depicts missiles as luminous points surrounding the White House. How do we navigate these times of disconnect and detachment?
